TERMS OF  SERVICE FOR US WEBSITES
  
  The  Information Technology Division provides the Web hosting Service to all  officially affiliated Stellenbosch University Departments, Centres, Bureaux,  and Institutes. 
  The Services  offered and concomitant costs (where applicable) are listed under Hosting Options
  
PAGEMASTER 
  To become a  Pagemaster you are required to submit accurate, current and complete personal  and professional information requested on the online registration form. You as  a Pagemaster are solely responsible for the proper use of your account,  including maintaining the confidentiality of your password. Your account is  non-transferable. Unauthorized use of your account by a third party is  prohibited and should be reported to the Web Administrator immediately.
  LIMITATIONS
  - No telnet access to the Web       server is permitted. 
- For security reasons as well as       the optimization of the server, Common Gateway Interface (CGI) scripts are       not permitted. 
- All content on the Web server       is publicly accessible until and unless you take steps to restrict access. 
- We will not support any custom       DLL’s. 
- We shall support the       configuration of the following Windows applications: FrontPage Extensions,       ASP, Access 2000 and MS SQL. 
- We shall set-up the environment       for the following Red Hat Linux applications: PERL, CGI, PHP, MySQL. 
- No third party applications or       configurations will be supported under any circumstance. 
- We will not support any code       settings, configurations or modifications. 
- We will support our Web Servers       Operating System (Windows 2000 & Red Hat Linux) and hardware. 
- FTP support will be offered in       the form of connectivity checks only. 
- We will not FTP or upload       clients’ information on their behalf under any circumstance. 
PAGEMASTER  CONDUCT AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  - It is the Pagemaster's       responsibility to keep backup copies of all published pages on your hard       disk or diskette in order to minimize potential loss of information and       effort; 
- The space allocation may not be       used to provide space for other individuals (friends, family) or       organizations (clubs, groups) not affiliated to Stellenbosch University; 
- The services provided by the       Information Technology Division are intended for Stellenbosch       University-affiliated use only. Commercial use or resale of any content       offered by the Division is strongly prohibited and constitutes violation       of the Terms of Service; 
- By publishing pages to the Web       server, the Academic and/or other Department and its designated Pagemaster       are solely responsible for the accuracy and authenticity of the content; 
- Dissemination of inaccurate,       misleading or falsified information is strictly prohibited and is       considered as an infringement of the Electronic Communications Policy. The       University reserves the right to revise or delete any content published by       a Pagemaster, which may be inaccurate or violate copyright or other       restrictions.

VIOLATIONS OF  POLICY
  This Terms of Service for Web hosting are subject to clause 2  of the Electronic Communications Policy governing acceptable and unacceptable  use.
PRIVACY
  Pagemaster privacy is subject to the relevant provisions in  the Electronic Communications Policy.
MODIFICATION  TO TERMS AND CONDITIONS
  The University reserves the right to modify any section of  the Terms (including the Tariff Schedule) without your prior consent, but will  notify the Pagemaster via e-mail and by posting an updated version of the Terms  on this page.
